GOVERNMENT
Jacqui MacConnell works for the Phoenix Police Department and started her career in December 1993. During this career she has worked as a patrol officer in the South Mountain and Maryvale Precincts. She transferred to the Drug Enforcement Bureau where she worked as an undercover detective and assisted in numerous large scale conspiracy drug investigations. Next, she transferred to the Training Bureau where she initiated a Spanish program for police officers on her Department. She also taught a variety of tactical courses to officers on the Phoenix Police Department. Her last assignment as a detective prior to promoting to Sergeant was at the Sex Crimes Unit. During this assignment, Jacqui worked to make sure that sex offenders maintained a current sex offender registration status. She also worked numerous sexual assault cases.
As a Sergeant, Jacqui supervised patrol squads in the South Mountain and Central City Precincts before transferring to the Drug Enforcement Bureau where she supervised a squad of undercover narcotics detectives.
Jacqui was promoted to Lieutenant in December 2006 and was assigned to the Maryvale Precinct where she worked as a Patrol Lieutenant for a year and currently serves as the Resource / Crime Suppression Lieutenant in the precinct.

TEACHING
Jacqui completed the Arizona P.O.S.T. General Instructor Course in 1996. She is also an Arizona P.O.S.T. certified Defensive Tactics, Firearms, High Risk Vehicle Stops, and Spanish Instructor; and holds other instructor certifications. She was a regular instructor at the Arizona Law Enforcement Academy, specializing in Defensive Tactics and Spanish, for several years. While assigned to the Training Bureau she taught a variety of tactical courses including Accelerated Deployment for active school shootings, Building Entry, Firearms and Tactical Driving.
EDUCATION
Jacqui graduated from Arizona State University in 1993 with a degree in Criminal Justice. While employed with the Phoenix Police Department, she pursued and received her Master’s Degree from Northern Arizona University in Educational Leadership.
Jacqui is also a graduate of Gavin de Becker's Advanced Threat Assessment and Management Academy.
TRAINING
Although Jacqui is not currently training in martial arts, she has been involved with a variety of martial arts including Kenpo, Tang Soo Do, Ryan Defense Systems and Krav Maga. She has fought both full and light contact fights in tournaments, receiving numerous awards. Jacqui was a Kenpo instructor 1987-1989.
Aside from attending the Phoenix Police Department’s Academy and graduating in May, 1994 to become a Phoenix Police Officer, Jacqui has continued training throughout her career. This training includes courses such as Early Responder Crisis Tactics, Spanish training, extended tactical firearms courses, The Bulletproof Mind by Lt. Col. Grossman, Defensive Tactics/Impact Weapons courses, tactical driving courses, Arizona Narcotics Officers training, Drug Enforcement Administration school for supervisors, methamphetamine lab training, legal issues for law enforcement, many other professionally related courses.
SPANISH
Jacqui lived in Colombia, South America from 1991 to 1993. She returned to the United States speaking Spanish fluently. Aside from studying Spanish in college and taking Spanish classes throughout her career, she also uses Spanish regularly at work. In 2000, while assigned to the Academy, Jacqui developed a Spanish program for Phoenix Police Officers.
NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION
Jacqui founded Angels on Patrol, a non-profit organization that helps families with children who have been neglected or severely abused and/or families in extreme financial hardship who have been identified by on-duty Phoenix Police Officers. (See www.AngelsonPatrol.com)
