ABOUT US

     Lieutenant Jacqui MacConnell has been with the Phoenix Police Department since 1994. She has worked in Patrol, Sex Crimes, Advanced Training and Drug Enforcement. Lieutenant MacConnell became a student of martial arts in 1985. She has studied Kenpo, Tang Soo Do, street fighting, and Krav Maga. She is a certified Defensive Tactics Instructor with Arizona P.O.S.T and has taught Defensive Tactics at the Arizona Law Enforcement Academy since 2000. Lieutenant MacConnell has used the basic tips that she provides in her seminars throughout her career during contacts with citizens and suspects. Being fairly small in stature, she can relate to women and their apprehension of being confronted by potentially dangerous persons.

     Officer John Monigan started his career with the Gilbert Police Department and now works for the Phoenix Police Department. He began studying Muay Thai Kick Boxing in 1988 and continues to practice the art regularly. Officer Monigan is a certified Defensive Tactics Instructor with Arizona Post and has taught Defensive Tactics at the Arizona Law Enforcement Academy since 2002. Having grown up in New York City and now being a police officer in Phoenix, Arizona, John is no stranger to the dangers that can confront ordinary citizens on the street.
